GRAMMY nominations have been announced! In this blog series, we've been taking a deeper look the FIVE of the artists we’ve partnered with at MAX who have received nominations - see the first blogs in the series on Ingrid Andress, and Lecrae!
This year’s nomination for Best Gospel Album (for Gospel According to PJ) marks R&B and gospel artist PJ Morton’s 14th career GRAMMY nomination. PJ has won two GRAMMY awards in prior years; prior nominations include recognition for his solo work, his songwriting, and his work as a keyboardist for alt-pop group Maroon 5.
Before he joined Maroon 5, PJ Morton was already well known in the music industry as a prolific studio musician, independent solo artist, sought-after songwriter, and in-demand producer. Joining the group seems to have only spurred Morton’s creativity even further, as he continues to release critically acclaimed solo albums, often earning awards and recognition for both his solo efforts and his work with Maroon 5 in the same year.

MAX Audience Insights: PJ Morton’s audience skews female and African American and he has a strong following in the 30-49 age range. His fans are more likely to be moms than the general population, tend to be budget conscious, and are interested in charitable causes for children. PJ Morton has a high concentration of fans in the southern US, midwest, and along the eastern coast.
Because of his large fanbase in the south, and particularly in Louisiana and Mississippi, PJ Morton was a great match with Ford Music Presents in partnership with Southern Quality Ford Dealers.
Stay tuned! Tomorrow we’ll take a look at another Louisiana artist and MAX partner, Jon Batiste.
