Kenny Lattimore x AARP
This holiday season, we’re cranking up the soul and cutting through the festive noise. We’ve teamed up acclaimed R&B vocalist Kenny Lattimore with...
We’re excited to host independent country artist and Texas native, Ashliegh Lisset, at Music Audience Exchange (MAX) for our monthly “On The Record” series.
An inspiring young Latina artist making her way through the country music scene, Ashliegh has caught the attention of Billboard, CMT Radio, Latina Magazine, and most recently Ford (more on that below). Born and raised in Texas, she now resides in Nashville, Tennessee as she follows her dream of becoming a national recording artist. Ashliegh released her first single “Kill the Headlights” which was co-written by her idol Carrie Underwood and well-known Nashville songwriters Hillary Lindsey and Luke Laird. The single was featured on Sirius XM’s The Highway as a “Highway Find,” and spent an impressive eight weeks on The Highway’s Top 30.
When Ashliegh was eleven years old, her father, who was serving his second tour for Operation Iraqi Freedom, was killed in the line of duty. Before he deployed, Ashliegh’s father asked her to record Carrie Underwood’s “Don’t Forget to Remember Me” for him. Her father was killed 45 days into his mission, and she never had the opportunity to send him the recording.
As she dealt with the pain of losing her father, she turned to music to help her heal. It was this realization that led her to begin her journey as a country music artist. At the age of fifteen, she made her first trip to Nashville to record. It was on that trip that she realized that this is what she wanted to do for the rest of her life.
A few years into her career, she has opened for Jarred Neimann, Joe Diffie, and other talented artists. She has had the opportunity to record singles written by gifted Nashville songwriters including country singer Kelsea Ballerini. But recording “Kill the Headlights” a song co-written by Carrie Underwood was truly a full-circle moment.
Even with all of her accomplishments so far, Ashliegh continues to push towards her dream. She is a role model for young girls, and through her story, she shows that there is healing after tragedy. She is also an ambassador for the Folds Of Honor, an organization that provides scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members.
Through Music Audience Exchange, Ashliegh is partnering with Ford in North Texas to share her story. In part with her partnership with Ford, she will be releasing a new single “Daughter of An American Hero.”
Good morning instagram! I’m so excited to FINALLY share what I’ve been working on! Life has been a little crazy since the new year started, and it’s been a true reflection of what the rest of 2018 will look like. •••• I’ve partnered with @ford for a HUGE project to tell y’all about my story. I’m very excited to be able to tell my story in full from the beginning to now— about how I started doing this, and why I continue doing this. •••• Along with this, I’M GOING TO BE RELEASING A NEW SINGLE! My new single is called “Daughter of an American Hero” it chronicles the very last trip I took with my dad — a 27 hour long car ride from Texas to New York for the summer back in 2005. My love for New York definitely stems from this. I remember visiting New York City for the first time as a starry eyed 9 year old girl, standing in the middle of times square being so enamored by all of the bright lights and flashing billboards. Though this song won’t go into THAT much detail (I’ll save it for another song) it’ll still chronicle that journey in a hauntingly beautiful way, and I can’t wait to share. •••• A HUGE THANK YOU to @ford and everyone on the team who helped make this possible. This next chapter will be bigger than the first. •••• So here’s goodbye to GOODBYE, my baby of a record that helped me get life back together after a break up, and here’s hello to DAUGHTER OF AN AMERICAN HERO my new baby of a record that helped me get through the darkest time in my life. I look forward to sharing the darkest part of my life with y’all. I will see y’all soon✨✨✨ #fordmusic #musicaford #northtexasforddealers
