Ruby Ibarra × McDonald's

Ruby Ibarra × McDonald's

Ruby Ibarra is switching it up with this McDonald’s campaign that shows off her rap skills and her spoken word prowess.

Ruby Ibarra & McDonald’s Switch It Up

McDonald’s is dedicated to celebrating the rich diversity of cultures in the Bay Area and we’re proud that we’ve been a part of so many McDonald’s campaigns that amplify diverse voices.

At MAX, we talk a lot about “diversity within diversity” and it has been amazing working with a partner like McDonald’s–a brand that celebrates the many distinct cultures within the Asian American community by partnering with artists like P-Lo, Adrian Marcel, and thuy (twice!). Alongside H&L Partners, our team helps McDonald’s create culturally relevant content that connects with people through the voices of the musicians and artists they love the most.

In our latest campaign with McDonald’s, Bay Area-based rapper and spoken word artist Ruby Ibarra brings her many talents to the table . . . and when we say “many talents,” we’re definitely making an understatement! In addition to her career as a rapper and spoken word artist, Ruby is also a filmmaker, a producer, an activist, a composer for TV soundtracks, and a biotech scientist. If there’s something she can’t do, we haven’t found it yet.

This McDonald’s campaign with Ruby Ibarra is a perfect example of how brands can connect with people through an artist who aligns perfectly with that brand’s values. While the primary goals for this campaign are driving brand awareness and engagement, our team also strives to tell a relatable, relevant story about the connections between family, culture, and the food we grew up loving. Ruby’s life journey has included McDonald’s at every turn and she weaves a powerful story through her spoken word campaign video.

The Song: “Switch

Ruby Ibarra brings her infectious energy to the campaign with her newest release, “Switch.”
